School has started, even though it still feels like the middle of summer.
But that's OK. The AC is working.
State Mandated Testing
One of the main purposes of Special Education is to prepare students to take their places in the adult work world, whether it be in a lawyer's office or at WalMart.
To this end, state mandated assessment (Illuminate, PARCC, or alternative assessments) prepares students for assessments and judgments that are based more on what can be accomplished in a given time than on who a person knows or how charming a student can be.
Unless determined otherwise, all students will take PARCC, SBA, or NMAPA.
When determined appropriate by an IEP, students can take the alternate assessment.
